After two meetings with developers of the proposed Paseo de Mission Hills project the Board of Directors voted to support the project as proposed. This mixed use redevelopment project is located on most of the block bounded by Goldfinch, Washington, Falcon and Ft. Stockton. The Board concluded the overall project would be an asset to the business community and that the developer, local resident Robert Lawrence, had conducted substantial community outreach. Further, the Board concluded that the project would not result in a loss of parking nor increase traffic congestion, conforms to local zoning, restores two buildings which could be designated historic, would improve the overall site with an attractive set of buildings and street landscape. This location is also the most appropriate block for this type of development as it is the most central area of this business district. This vote was advisory and follows the support from Uptown Planners and preceded the January 27, 2005 passage of the City of San Diego Planning Commision. The project will now go to the full San Diego City Council for consideration at a date set by the Council. |
