CLB Partners Sponsors Little Mo Documentary

07/15/2003

CLB Partners, the developer of 1999 McKinnney, hosted the world premiere of the documentary film, "Unforgettable" The Little Mo Connolly Story, in honor of the 50th anniversary of Maureen "Little Mo" Connollys 1953 "Grand Slam" win, a unique feat accomplished by winning the Australian, French, Wimbledon and U.S. Open in the same calendar year. A second event was held May 8th in San Diego, sponsored by Park Laurel On The Prado, a luxury high-rise community at the entrance of Balboa Park.

The film premiered as part of the 2003 USA Film Festival, with proceeds benefiting Childrens Wipe Out Kids Cancer (WOKC). Over $60,000 in proceeds from the ticket sales and auctioned items were raised, which are being distributed by WOKC to Childrens Medical Center in Dallas and the Maureen Connolly Brinker Tennis Foundation in Dallas.

"Unforgetable" chronicles the life, legacy and tennis career of "Little Mo" from her childhood to her valiant battle with cancer that claimed her life in 1969 at 34 years of age. In the history of tennis, only five players have claimed the "Grand Slam" with "Little Mo" being the first, and still the youngest woman to acheive this distinction.

Special guests included 1999 McKinney homeowners and guests: including real estate legends Ebby Halliday Acers, Judy Pittman and Allie Beth Allman; philanthropist Nancy Dedman; Frank and Nancy Jeffett; Marilyn and Jim Augur; Toni and Norman Brinker; Carole and Scott Murray, who served as Emcee; Carole Keeton Strayhorn, Texas Comptroller, and newlywed husband Ed Strayhorn. Also in attendance were special guests from the USA Film Festival: Grover Crisp; Michael Greyeyes; Mary Kay Place; Stephen Tobolosky; Thomas Hayden Church; and film legend Dina Merrill and husband, Ted Hartley.

"Everyone in Dallas and San Diego respects the Brinker family and their many contributions to our city and the fight against cancer," said Will Cureton, principal of CLB Partners. We are honored to play a part in this tribute to Maureen Connolly Brinker and at the same time assist a wonderful organization like Childrens Medical Center, raising money for pediatric cancer research."

Three floors at 1999 McKinney were transformed into tributes to each of the "Grand Slam" tournaments with each "tournament room" containing a tennis related item for auction: the fourth floor outdoor deck, which features a saltwater pool, heated spa and outdoor "barbie" was transformed into "The Australian Open"; Residence 1403, "The French Open", was a two bedroom, two bath, 2,538 sq. ft. luxury loft furnished by Roche Bobois; Residence 1408, "The US Open", was a three bedroom, three bath, 3,107 sq. ft. home furnished by the Market Antiques & Home Furnishings.

The evening concluded in Penthouse 2005, a 2,610 sq. ft. residence boasting a 1,897 sq. ft. terrace overlooking downtown Dallas, The Nasher Sculpture Center, which was transformed into "Wimbledon Gardens" and included a live auction conducted by Scott Murray, former NBC sports anchor, for center court seats to Wimbledon.
